So what´s this xfiles.dk hosting about anyway ?

Well xfiles.dk hosting is a top secret government hosting company. It's kinda like area51 hosting just a bit more secret :-) Nah just kidding well the baby needed a name, and since I´m quite fond of the domain name xfiles.dk that i have why not use that ? xfiles.dk is hosting domains, web, mail etc. for family and friends. It´s a total private operation.

What kinda Servers/Operating System are you running ?

I'm running a couple of Dell 19" Inch Poweredge Servers, Redundant Powersupplies and Redundant Harddrives. Dual Xeon Procerssors and 4 Gig RAM in Each Rack. The Operating System is FreeBSD, but it could have been any flavour of *NIX I'm not religious when it comes to operating systems as long as it´s not Microsoft.

So can I get my domain, web and mail hosted at xfiles.dk ?

Eh .... Nope. You are not my friend nor family and I'm only hosting for those.

Well considering the above statement can I then be your friend ?

Hmmm... Eh.. Nope I know what youre thinking " beeing my friend will get you in on beeing able to get hosted at xfiles.dk ". Sorry that´s not gonna happen.

I´m the monster hiding under your bed when you go to sleep. Nah I´m not. No really I'm not ! If someone is hiding under your bed you should call the police. I'm a 40 year old geek currently working as a system engineer/administrator for a danish design company.

So why are you running your own servers ?

Because I can. And because I´m sick and tired of Hosting Providers telling me what I can and can not do. To put it simple " I don´t want anybody to tell me what and what I can not do ". And I was also sick of always waiting hours in cue for support. And tired of beeing billed for services that I either didn´t have much or any control of or seemed pretty useless.
