Fringe

Not sure what to watch while waiting for the next season of "House" ? Here’s a tip. Watch Fringe running on Fox Network.

How would one describe Fringe? Perhaps one could try something like "X-Files on adrenalin". Fringe is Created by J. J. Abrams who also created "Lost"

Fringe is NOT X-Files. But it is the first thing that comes to mind when watching the series. Fringe share a much of the same fundamental elements. We have a team consisting of an FBI agent, a “mad” scientist and his “jack of all trades” son. They are investigating phenomena’s such as invisibility, teleportation, mind control, astral projection, mutation, reanimation. All of those phenomena’s seems to lead to some sort of conspiracy refereed to as the "The Pattern".

Now if this doesn’t smell like X-Files then I’m bad at smelling. The episodes are connected and will hopefully lead to a conclusion unless off cause Fox Network stops the show before comming to that bit.

It is told that J. J. Abrams has made an effort to try an create the series or each episode in such manner that you won’t be totally lost if you should miss an episode unlike “Lost” where you actually where hmmm lost if you missed a show. I haven’t put that to a test since I’ve watch all episodes so far. Fringe season 1 and 2 is available on DVD.

All in all a very good show, clever and highly recommendable. Even if you hated X-Files you may actually like this one.

If The Tv Show Lost Was A Mrtg Graph

So reflecting over the tv show Lost after watching all episodes again. This is a follow up on my article "Feeling A Bit Lost"

Lost MRTG Confusion Level

As I wrote in my article "Feeling A Bit Lost" I enjoyed and watched it great passion and enthusiasm. But somewhere around season 4 I think. I kinda "lost it"

Original Article

Now having seen the complete DVD collection which I bought "Yes I had to have it" things haven’t improved much for me on the confusion level of things. The characters are still great. Big plots are afoot. A lot of money has been put in the production etc. In short everything you could anticipate from a good tv show as Lost is. But…

Introducing the "Lost Time Line" a term used by many "Lost fans". It refers to the time travel beginning with the main island jumping in time. The show then continues down that path with various characters also jumping back and forth in time. And theres no end to it. It simply goes on and on. And here’s where I really had to give up.

Now I really consider myself a bright guy but never the less this just went way over my head. In fact I was so confused that after watching season 4, 5, and the final season 6. I decided to give the whole thing another try. I was like "This cant be true, why don’t I get this? What’s wrong with me? Is there some part of my brain here that is not quite functional?" or even worse. "Perhaps my brain is simply missing a vital part. The part that’s supposed to understand this".

So as every geek with self respect and not taking no for and answer I started watching the whole thing once again. But plotting my confusion level as an MRTG graph as well, it’s the MRTG graph shown in this article. I mean it’s the only right thing to do isn’t it? On the Mrtg graph it’s referred to as "Lost Confusion Level" for all of you to enjoy and smile at.

But I have since spoken with a lot of "Lost fans" like me and in retrospect it comforts me that I’m not alone in the universe not being able to figure out the "Lost Timeline"

Lost was a really good tv show. Setting whole new standards. Here’s my recap of the show.
I really enjoyed Lost and watched it with great passion and enthusiasm, but somewhere around season 4 it just became Note MOTS But having ordered the complete DVD collection I consider resuming where I left off. So to help myself and perhaps interest a few people in the series here’s a small if not the worlds smallest recap ever of Lost up and until season 4.

An airplane “Flight Oceanic 815 from Sydney” crashes on its way to Los Angeles on a tropical island. The island is special in many ways. For example a man bound to a wheelchair can all of the sudden walk.

A mysterious monster roams the island as well. We have polar bears roaming around. Strange statues, and other mysterious things. After what seems an eternity they realize that rescue is most likely not comming. They built a raft and try to get help. A survivor is being kidnapped. And they figure out they are not alone.

There are other people there as well which they call “The Others”. There are remains of a secret research facility called the “Dharma Initiative” all over the place. The “Survivors” have a lot of trouble with “The Others”.

A freighter with a lot of scientist shows up all of the sudden. Also some military people who come for one of the others. Some survivors are heading for the freighter in a helicopter, But the frighter explodes. All of the sudden the Island disappears with some survivors still on it.

The survivors from the helicopter returns to civilization. They are from that moment known as the Oceanic 6. As there where only 6 people returning. They have agreed not to tell anyone about the island.

The island has not disappeared it is instead moving through time and is transporting the remaining survivors to the year 1974. There they are starting to be killed. One survivor is transported back to civilization to the year 2006 and start begging the Oceanic 6 to return to the island to get things fixed. He is eventually killed and used by one of “The Others” as leverage to get the oceanic 6 to return to the island.

They board a flight “Ajira flight 316″ which they know will crash on the island. Oh they also have the killed survivor with them. After the crash some are transported back in time to the year 1977. The rest is not.

Now between these time shifts a lot of things happen. New mysteries show up and some are solved. All in all a very good show. Perhaps I’ll actually watch the last 2 seasons I haven’t seen someday.

I must admit I kind’a lost it for Lost once the island began shifting in time and the Note MOTS effect really kicked in. I had a hard time keeping up and instead of being enlightened I ended up having a huge headache.

Lost is available on DVD in various complete collections as well as single seasons.

Note MOTS = More Of The Same
