So my “Halo Reach” Xbox wireless headset arrived today. What can I say it’s a wireless headset. Was I impressed? No not really actually a bit disappointed.

I mean the “Halo Reach” branding was nice and all that, but considering how much money you have to spend on it then it’s not really value for money.

A standard xbox wireless headset is about $49.99 and comes with an AC adapter so you can recharge without using USB. The Halo Reach Edition is also $49.99 but without adapter. You are forced to recharge it using a USB port from either your Xbox or a Computer.

Considering how much I actually use a headset in the first place then it’s simply too expensive. But then again as much as I like Halo I had to have this one regardless.

Now if you read my post on the Xbox 360 limited “Halo” branded edition. None of you will be surprised that I had to get this one.

Ok now I really don’t use a headset that often, not even when playing Halo, actually only when I’m playing with friends. Now I’m quite picky when it comes to accepting invites in the first place, this as the fact that not many of my friends own a headset makes bragging quite difficult. So I can’t really be sure whether it annoys them that I have this headset or not.

“Halo Reach Limited Edition Xbox”.

It was a challenge not just to tear it open and start playing. I decided to take it easy and get some pictures.

Now I’ve seen a lot of pictures of the Halo Branded Xbox so I had a pretty good idea what to expect. And I must say I was not disappointed. The package contained the things I anticipated. Inside was an Xbox Halo Reach branded edition the color is light silver and not some “yellow silverish” as seen on a lot of pictures. Also inside was two Halo branded controllers no news there. Cables and a headset.

Now the headset is not branded in anyway neither the cables. Some of the first editions of the Halo 3 limited editions had branded cables i.e. cables in another color. But not all. I have a Halo 3 limited edition as well and that came with standard xbox cables.

Back to the Halo Reach edition. What really surprises me with this Xbox, and my best guess is that this goes for all next generation Xboxes is that it is being shipped without HDMI cable. That’s not really a big issue but never the less.

Next thing which comes as a bit of annoyances are the controllers. They are shipped without rechargeable batteries. I remember when I got my Halo 3 limited edition which was shipped with a army green controller they shipped it with a rechargeable battery as well.

But all in all a nice box. No surprises it lived up to my expectations nothing more nothing less.

Was it worth it? Yes it was.
